Continued efforts to ensure accessibility

We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 as a reference for designing, programming and generating content. Every time we add new pages or functionalities, we verify that the design, code and editing comply with these guidelines.

Web accessibility is an ongoing process. We regularly test content and features for compliance with WCAG 2.1 level AA and correct any issues found. Our team uses industry standard tools such as the Accessibility Checker WordPress Plugin, color contrast analyzers, keyboard-only navigation and Flesch-Kincaid readability tests.

Accessibility features on our website

The following elements have been included to improve the accessibility of the site:

  • Go to content” link that allows you to jump directly to the main information.
  • Fully keyboard-operable navigation (menus, forms and links).
  • Meaningful images with descriptive alternative text.
  • Semantic headings (H1-H6) that reflect the logical structure of each page.
  • Color contrasts complying with WCAG 2.1 level AA.
  • Forms with associated labels and accessible error messages.
  • Consistent ARIA attributes to enhance the screen reader experience.

Areas for improvement

In our efforts to achieve and maintain standards, we are working on the following aspects:

  • Add subtitles to all video and audio content.
  • Ensure that old PDF documents are fully accessible.
  • Check the contrast of buttons and links on photographic backgrounds.
  • Include more visible focus indicators for keyboard users.
  • Label decorative icons with aria-hidden="true" or equivalent.
